Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi support for Abortion at odds with Catholic teaching.

Any Catholic politician who votes for abortion is at odds with Catholic teaching and the law of God. Any Catholic politician who attempts to uphold an already existing law, which promotes abortion, is at odds with Catholic teaching and the law of God.
In short politicians such as Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are guilty of grave mortal sin. They may not receive Holy Communion.
The same strictures apply to Catholic voters whether religious or lay. Catholic voters should not vote for Barack Obama who supports partial birth abortion. To do so is a grave sin.

The Democratic Party platform supports abortion. It is at odds with Catholic teaching and the law of God. No bluff or bluster from Obama, Biden or Pelosi can obscure this fact. The so -called pro- choice position represents the culture of death.

The following outlines clearly the Catholic Church position on the Abortion issue:

"John Paul II, continuing the constant teaching of the Church, has reiterated many times that those who are directly involved in lawmaking bodies have a «grave and clear obligation to oppose» any law that attacks human life. For them, as for every Catholic, it is impossible to promote such laws or to vote for them…..
When political activity comes up against moral principles that do not admit of exception, compromise or derogation, the Catholic commitment becomes more evident and laden with responsibility. In the face of fundamental and inalienable ethical demands, Christians must recognize that what is at stake is the essence of the moral law, which concerns the integral good of the human person. This is the case with laws concerning abortion and euthanasia (not to be confused with the decision to forgo extraordinary treatments, which is morally legitimate). Such laws must defend the basic right to life from conception to natural death."

Focas on the Family leader Dopson switched his vote from Obama to MCCain recently. His reasoning was everyone has some sin and thats okey. Some Christians are not what they once were in the 1880's.

On the other hand killing thousands upon thousands of people in an illegal and meaningless war in Iraq is ok by the catholic church?

I never favoured the invasion of Iraq as I believed that the US would get bogged down there. Similarly I believe that greater involvement in Afghanistan will will have worse consequences. The British and Russians could not subjugate the Afghanis.
I have never heard the Catholic Church justify unlawful killings by any side in Iraq.
The abortion debate is a separate debate.
ONE of the reasons for the decline of the Roman Empire was infantcide.
The late English historian Hugh Trevor Roper concurred with this opinion
The same fate will befall the west and countries such as Russia and China unless they alter course.
We must answer to God when we meet Him.
