On the eve of Independence Day 2009, Sarah Palin announced that she would resign as Governor of Alaska to ensure that the state's citizens would have an executive who was not under constant assualt of meaningless lawsuits. She promised to serve the people of the United States and to advance the American agenda of freedom and personal liberty.
