John McCain's standing-amongst many grassroots Republicans-has plummeted in the wake of his calculated insult to Sarah Palin. He has angered many in the base. Indeed many conservatives who voted for him will now feel cheated. He may fancy himself as a kingmaker for 2012. But in reality he is finished. His snub to Palin was a cheap shot and leaves McCain diminished. He sought to ingratiate himself with his liberal audience by slurring Sarah Palin. He has now joined the liberal wolf pack in the pursuit of Palin. Shame on him.

I disagree with the analysis. McCain has, in the past, stood in opposition to the power base in his party such as in 2004-2005 for his torture bill. If the man is guilty of anything in this clip, it is further evidence that he appears old and out of touch.
If Palin were not on the ticket many conservatives would not have voted for McCain. He would not have broken 40% of the vote in my view without Palin. I find it despicable that McCain snubbed her at a time when she herself and her family have been unfairly targeted by the liberal media.
He was playing to the liberal gallery. No wonder he is distrusted by many conservatives

I would. She has core conservative beliefs. By 2012 she will have matured greatly as a politician.
