According to the website One Nation Under God these "Catholic in name only" politicians all have a 0% Pro-life voting record. Pope Benedict has warned Catholic politicians that they risked excommunication from the Church and should not receive Holy Communion if they support abortion. Under Church law (Canon law), a politician (indeed any Catholic for that matter) who knowingly does or backs something which the Church considers a grave sin, such as abortion, inflicts what is known as "automatic excommunication" on himself/herself.
