Iran:Taraneh M 28 year old trainee beautician missing and feared dead after arrest

Here is an excerpt of an article from Iranian Leftists concerning Taraneh M a 28 year old trainee beautician who was arrested more than two weeks ago by security forces on the fringe of the rally on 7th tir (28th june). It is a shocker and points to the barbarism of the Ahmadinejad regime.

Reports indicate that her family were told that she was in danger due to damage to her anus and womb.

According to reports, this young woman was arrested by plain clothes security forces at 6 pm after participating in the 7th tir ceremony at Ghoba mosque. While after interrogation all other detainees were brought to Nobonyad police station by basij and intelligence agents, the plain clothes agents kept Taraneh in a building near Hosseinie Ershad.

According to witnesses, while most of the participants in the ceremony were dressed in normal clothes and trainers, Taraneh was wearing chic clothes and high-heeled shoes, and caught the interrogators’ attention because of her hairstyle, make-up and beauty....Still, one of Taraneh’s close friends told us that, considering the information in hand, she was very worried that Taraneh was dead. She said between the time a girl answering Taraneh’s description had reportedly been in the hospital and her arrest several days had passed. Also the mention of a torn anus and womb by the unidentified caller indicates that Taraneh may have died being gang raped by the Basijis and security forces.

Side Effects from Cervical Cancer Vaccine in Valencia Spain

Some cervical cancer vaccines were withdrawn following the side effects suffered by two 14-year old girls in Valencia Spain. One of the girls was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Clínico in the city. The other girl was admitted to a normal ward. Both suffered from convulsions and other complications. Later a third a girl was placed in intensive care having suffered from convulsions.
According to Typically Spanish
The health monitoring system, El Sistema Español de Farmacovigilancia, registered as many as 45 cases of bad reactions to the cervical cancer vaccine, while sources at the Ministry for Health put the number at only five.
Today Typically Spanish reports that:
One of the two 14 year old girls from Valencia who was admitted hospital 19 days ago after a side effect reaction to the cervical cancer vaccine earlier this month has had to return to the UCI, Intensive Care Unit. She is said to be in a serious but stable condition, while the second girl remains on the general ward and is making good progress. The two girls received their jabs on the 4th and 6th of February in health centres in Burjassot and Valencia. The Gardasil vaccine, lot NH52670, resulted in them both suffering from convulsions and losing consciousness for a time. After withdrawing the lot concerned, the Valencia regional health authority has once again started the VPH vaccine campaign.
The Ministry for Health says that since Gardasil was approved in Europe in October 2006, more than 1.14 million doses have been distributed in Spain.

Ireland- Taoiseach Brian Cowen losing out in Dail exchanges

There is increasing evidence in Dail exchanges that Brian Cowen is prepared to adopt a more aggressive approach to the opposition than Bertie Ahern. Former Socialist Party TD Joe Higgins said in 2003 that "asking the (former) Taoiseach Mr Ahern a question is like trying to play handball against a haystack. You hear a dull thud and the ball does not come back to you. It goes all over the world, but it certainly does not come back to the person asking the question". In marked contrast Cowen is more combative.

Prior to assuming the mantle of Taoiseach Cowen had been quite dismissive towards Kenny. In a Dail exchange in February Mr Cowen-then Tanaiste- attempted to belittle Kenny on the issue of Mr Ahern's finances and the Mahon Tribunal when he said "You are neither qualified nor able to evaluate that evidence”. This may yet come back to haunt him. The personalised nature of the comment has energised Kenny.

Political journalists assumed that Cowen as Taoiseach would destroy Kenny in exchanges. This is not what has transpired.
In the Dail yesterday (Tuesday) Enda Kenny raised the HSE announcement last week that it was contacting more than 4,500 patients whose x-rays and CT scans at Our Lady`s Hospital, Navan, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, might have been misread. Cowen injudiciously attacked Kenny and alleged that he was attempting to make political capital out of the issue. He came off second best in the exchanges.

Today in the Dail a row erupted when Mr Kenny questioned the Taoiseach about health expenditure.
In reply Cowen claimed that Fine Gael had not backed a single initiative aimed at improving health services. This comment drew howls of disapproval from the FG front bench.
Mr Cowen told the Fine Gael spokesman on Health, Dr James Reilly, that if the heckling continued, he could ensure that Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny would not be heard in the chamber again.
This was a bad lapse in judgement.

Mr Cowen was then tackled by Labour leader Eamon Gilmore on price increases and on the alleged failure of the National Consumer Agency and other bodies to act.
The Dail microphones picked up a comment made by the Taoiseach to Tanaiste Mary Coughlan : 'We need to get a handle on this, will you ring those f***ers.'
The use of the F-word although not used in the Dail exchanges was a further embarrassment for the Taoiseach.
All in all a bad week for the Government and for Mr Cowen.
