Malta Video: Pope Benedict prays in St Paul's Grotto, 17 April 2010

Pope Benedict has prayed in the grotto of St. Paul, the heart of Malta's Christian heritage. Pope Benedict is in Malta to commemorate St. Paul’s shipwreck off the island, which took place 1950 years ago. Paul was travelling to Rome when a violent storm arose and his ship ran aground on this island. St. Paul’s Bay is believed to have been the site of the shipwreck. Paul's three-month stay in Malta left an indelible mark upon the history of the country. Malta is 94% Catholic.
