Pro Life Video with clips of astronaut Neil Armstrong on the moon

A pro-life group-Catholic Vote.org-whose first two television commercials were rejected by NBC and CNN has unveiled a new ad that promotes the potential of human life. The ad feature clips of astronaut Neil Armstrong and they have the support of top astronauts Dr. Joseph Kerwin and Gene Krantz.

Astronauts Help Launch New Pro Life Ad

Dr. Kerwin calls ad ‘great tribute’ to 40th anniversary of Apollo 11

HOUSTON – Dr. Joseph Kerwin, the first American doctor in outer space, joined other former NASA greats today at a press conference in Houston to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11’s historic landing on the moon with a new ad by CatholicVote.org.

“For thousands of years, man has looked at the moon and the stars in awe. But forty years ago, we did the unthinkable: We landed on the moon. This new ad by CatholicVote.org captures the spirit of this historic mission by highlighting the potential of human life,” said Dr. Kerwin.

Gene Krantz, best known as the flight director at mission control manager during Apollo 13, was also on hand to premiere the ad.

Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote.org, said that putting a man on the moon was once thought impossible.

Neil Armstrong will go down in history as one of the greatest explorers. His long journey to the moon started, as each of us started, with a small kick in our mother’s womb,” said Burch. “Today, we salute the astronauts of Apollo 11 and all other brave pioneers who give meaning to the potential of every human life.”

Video:Rep. Michele Bachmann speech in Congress against taxpayer funding for abortion in DC

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) in a very moving speech-the finest that I have ever heard from a public representative-outlines the pro-life women's perspective on growing public support for the pro-life cause and the true impact of taxpayer funding for abortion in DC. President Obama has proposed repealing the Dornan Amendment, legislation that currently prevents taxpayer funded abortion in the District of Columbia. Taxpayer funded abortion increases the abortion rates in all ethnic groups but more so among the African American and Hispanic communities. Rep Bachmann explains how American children and women are hurt by abortion.
It is already a great tragedy that the District of Columbia has the highest abortion rate in the country. What's even worse is forcing pro-life taxpayers to foot the bill for over 7,200 abortions a year in D.C.

Congresswomen like Jean Schmidt (R-OH), Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA), Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) are leading the fight in Congress against taxpayer-funded abortions in D.C.

Video:Pro Life supporters interrupt Obama speech at Notre Dame

Obama is a pro abortion extremist. This is the man who voted against the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act when it was in the Illinois state legislature and who overturned the Mexico City policy three days after he took office. In addition he has decided to fund abortions in foreign countries with American tax dollars. Finally he has stated that he wouldn't want any daughter of his who made a mistake to be "punished" with a child.
Obama professes himself as being opposed to torture yet is an ardent supporter of the torture of the innocent unborn child in the womb. Just visualize the agony suffered by the defenseless child in its mother’s womb as it struggles against the abortionists forceps and the scissors and the high powered suction tube. What a hypocrite.

Excerpt from text of Notre Dame's honorary degree to Barack Obama

He now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good.

Obama has trampled on the human rights of the innocent unborn child. Yet an ostensibly Catholic institution awards him an honorary degree for upholding human rights. Notre Dame has disgraced itself. The words Notre Dame translated into English mean Our Lady. This is an insult to the Mother of God.

Video: Supermodel Kathy Ireland tells Mike Huckabee why she changed from pro-abortion to pro-life

Supermodel Kathy Ireland explains why she has changed form a pro-abortion position to a strong pro-life stance. She uses science to guide her and quotes the law of biogenesis to buttress her argument. This is the finest exposition of the pro-life position that I have ever heard.

Spain:100,000 March for Life in Madrid to protest against Abortion policies of Socialist Government

Demonstrations against abortion were held in Madrid and 87 other cities across Spain on Sunday. The countrywide demonstrations were organized by Spain's pro-life associations Derecho a Vivir (Right to Life), Hazte Oír (Make Yourself Heard), Doctors for Life, and ProLife Madrid. It is estimated that 500,000 took part in total. 100,000 people attended the Madrid protest. The Manifesto for Life was read at all rallies
AGENZIA SIR reports

THE “MANIFESTO” SIGNED BY 300 SCIENTISTS AND SCHOLARS AGAINST ABORTION

The twelve points mentioned in the Manifesto defend “human life in its initial stage, as an embryo and as a fetus,” and reject “the use of abortion towards economic or ideological lucrative interests.” The document calls for a “correct interpretation of scientific data on human life in all its stages.” The scholars also analyse the social consequences of abortion, which they call “tragic”, adding that “a society that remains indifferent to the slaughter of nearly 120,000 babies each year is a failed and sick society.” Likewise, they reject the possibility that a sixteen-year-old girl can abort without parental consent and claim that “an abortion law without restrictions would make the woman the only one responsible for a violent act against the life of her own son.” Among the signatories there are Professors Nicolás Jouve, Dean of Genetics; César Nombela, Dean of Microbiology; Francisco Abadía Fenoll, retired Dean of Cellular Biology; and Julio Navascués Martínez, Dean of Cellular Biology. The Manifesto, that can be signed only by persons of intellectual authority and excellence, has already gathered more that 300 signatures.

CNA reports

Thousands of Spaniards gathered this week in Madrid for the "March for Life," which had as its theme, "There is no right to kill, there is only the right to live." The march was held in opposition to a plan to liberalize the country’s laws on abortion. Eighty seven simultaneous marches also took place in cities across Spain.
Speakers at the march in Madrid included Paloma de Cendra, member of the Right to Life Committee of Experts, and an expert on post-abortion stress syndrome; Ignacio Arsuaga, president of the watchdog website Hazteoir.org; and Dr. Gador Joya, national spokesman for Right to Life. Dr. Joya read the Manifesto for Life at the event.
Cendra, who for years has been helping women who have aborted, said she has yet to find a "single one who wanted to do it." They did it, she said, out of "fear, loneliness, abandonment, pressure, discrimination, and even threats." "Is this the free choice that some proclaim?" she asked........

Pro Life Movie - Come What May- released to DVD March 17th

The pro-life movie COME WHAT MAY was made mostly by students from a new Christian film company, Advent Film Group. The movie is about purity, the sanctity of life, and the importance of doing what's right...come what may.
This movie was released to DVD nationwide on March 17th by Provident Films, the same company that distributed FACING THE GIANTS and FIREPROOF.

When Does Life Really Begin?

If college student Caleb Hogan argues what he truly believes, he stands to lose the most important competition of his life—and the support of his mother. If he softens his stance, he might win the coveted title...but lose the heart of his teammate Rachel in the process.Come What May is a vivid reminder that choosing whats right is never easy...but its always worth the cost.

Video:12-year-old Canadian schoolgirl speaks out on the issue of abortion

12-year-old "Lia" of Toronto participated in a school competition and gave this superbly crafted pro-life speech. She emerged victorious notwithstanding the fact that she was told that she would be disqualified because of the subject matter. It is the finest articulation of the pro- life position that I have ever heard or read. It is marked by a comprehensiveness, lucidity and clarity, which demolishes the arguments in favour of abortion.
Moral Outcry provides further details.

George W Bush Achievements that will stand the test of time

Much has been written of George W Bush's alleged failures. Perhaps it is time to look at some of his achievements.

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 is a United States federal law that was originally proposed by President George W Bush on January 23, 2001. Congress based its legislation on the Presidents proposals. It was the most sweeping reform of federal education policy in a generation. The legislation, which closely followed the President's agenda to improve America's public schools, passed Congress with overwhelming bipartisan majorities and signed into law on January 8, 2002.

After the September 11 attacks Bush beefed up security. The US removed the Taliban from power and shut down the terrorist training camps and liberated more than 25 million Afghans. The Bush administration has kept the US free of terrorist attacks since 9/11. This is no mean achievement.

The Bush administration introduced major initiatives to tackle aids and malaria.

The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is the largest commitment by any nation to combat a single disease in human history. When the President launched this initiative in 2003, approximately 50,000 people in all of sub-Saharan Africa were receiving anti-retroviral treatment.
Ahead of schedule, the United States has fulfilled the President's commitment to support treatment for two million people. As of September 30, 2008, PEPFAR supported life-saving antiretroviral treatment for more than 2.1 million men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS around the world, including more than 2 million people in sub-Saharan Africa.
As of September 30, 2008, nearly 9.7 million people affected by HIV/AIDS in PEPFAR's focus countries had received compassionate care, including nearly 4 million orphans and vulnerable children. Globally, the United States is supporting care for more than 10.1 million people, including more than 4 million orphans and vulnerable children.
Nearly 240,000 babies have been born HIV-free due to the support of the American people for programs to prevent mothers from passing the virus on to their children.
In July, President Bush signed into law H.R. 5501, the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act. This legislation will expand access to lifesaving antiretroviral drugs, prevent millions of new HIV infections, and provide compassionate care to millions of people affected by HIV/AIDS. Under this legislation, the next phase of the American people's generous commitment to those suffering from HIV/AIDS will support:
Treatment for at least 3 million people;
Prevention of 12 million new infections; and
Care for 12 million people, including 5 million orphans and vulnerable children.
Faith-based and community organizations are important partners in the implementation of PEPFAR, the President's Malaria Initiative, and other U.S.-funded efforts. President Bush's Faith-based and Community Initiative empowers these organizations so that they can help create an effective, multi-sectoral response to need. Faith-based and community organizations are uniquely positioned to promote HIV/AIDS stigma-reduction and prevention messages and provide counseling and testing, home care, clinical services, and antiretroviral treatment, particularly in some of the hardest-to-reach communities. Last year, 87 percent of PEPFAR partners were indigenous organizations, and nearly a quarter were faith-based. More details here
Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit: George W. Bush signed legislation that entitled 41.7 million disabled and elderly beneficiaries of Medicare to new coverage of prescription drugs.

President Bush took a strong pro-life stance. He signed the ban on partial-birth abortions. President Bush also signed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. This ensures that unborn children who survive botched abortions receive proper medical care instead of being left to die or purposefully killed after birth. He has nominated pro-life judges. Bush refused to sign FOCA.

Sarah Palin Refuses Pay Rise and shows true leadership qualities

A very interesting report has appeared in the Anchorage Daily News concerning Governor Palin's pay. Members of Congress should take note.
A new state commission appointed by Palin recommends boosting the governor's pay from $125,000 to $150,000. The State Officers Compensation Commission says the lieutenant governor, department heads and legislators need more money too.
But if the commission pushes ahead with a pay raise, Palin won't accept the money, said spokesman Bill McAllister.

Palin is as usual showing leadership qualities. This is in marked contrast to Democrat controlled Congress where each member will receive a pay rise of $4,700. The anti Palin media continues to blacken her reputation with unfounded attacks and smears. It is largely silent on her self-sacrifices. As far as liberals are concerned Sarah Palin's biggest crime is that she is pro-life.

Ex Spanish Socialist Senator converts to Catholicism and calls for end to Abortion

CNA reports:
During the “Catholics and Public Life” congress in Spain this week, former senator Mercedes Aroz, who a year ago announced her conversion to the Catholic faith and departure from the Socialist Party of Catalonia, called for the abolition of abortion in Spain to bring about true progress in the advancement of human rights.

Abortion in Spain has reached pandemic levels. Almost 1.2 million abortions have taken place in Spain since the practice was legalized in 1985.
Hopefully more Spanish Socialist politicians will now follow Mercedes Aroz’s example and work to end this scourge.

America The National Catholic Weekly - article proposes Kmiec for Vatican Ambassador

The National Catholic Weekly carries an article -by Michael Sean Winters- which suggests strongly that Professor Douglas Kmiec -who served as head of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Departments of both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush- would make an excellent choice as US ambassador to the Vatican.
Despite his Republican credentials, Kmiec endorsed Barack Obama this year and penned a thoughtful book, "Can a Catholic Support Him?" The question is ridiculous to most ears and, in the event, most Catholics did support him But for some extremists on the right, there was a firm conviction that no Catholic could vote for Obama......In truth, Kmiec’s pro-life credentials, despite some carping from the far right political fringe, are impeccable....

Some of the language used in this article is surprising to the least. Those who oppose abortion are not extremists. They are upholding the law of God. How could any Catholic in good conscience support Obama- a man who has pledged to sign into law FOCA? There is no half way house on abortion. It is not ridiculous to pose the following question: Can any Catholic in good conscience support Obama? The answer is a resounding NO.

Champion of abortion becomes defender of life: the story of Stojan Adasevic-Planned Parenthood Take Note

The Spanish daily “La Razon” has published an article on the pro-life conversion of a former “champion of abortion.” Stojan Adasevic, who performed 48,000 abortions, sometimes up to 35 per day, is now the most important pro-life leader in Serbia, after 26 years as the most renowned abortion doctor in the country.
“The medical textbooks of the Communist regime said abortion was simply the removal of a blob of tissue,” the newspaper reported. “Ultrasounds allowing the fetus to be seen did not arrive until the 80s, but they did not change his opinion. Nevertheless, he began to have nightmares.”

In describing his conversion, Adasevic “dreamed about a beautiful field full of children and young people who were playing and laughing, from 4 to 24 years of age, but who ran away from him in fear. A man dressed in a black and white habit stared at him in silence. The dream was repeated each night and he would wake up in a cold sweat. One night he asked the man in black and white who he was. ‘My name is Thomas Aquinas,’ the man in his dream responded. Adasevic, educated in communist schools, had never heard of the Dominican genius saint. He didn’t recognize the name”
“Why don’t you ask me who these children are?” St. Thomas asked Adasevic in his dream.
“They are the ones you killed with your abortions,’ St. Thomas told him.
“Adasevic awoke in amazement and decided not to perform any more abortions,” the article stated.

“That same day a cousin came to the hospital with his four months-pregnant girlfriend, who wanted to get her ninth abortion—something quite frequent in the countries of the Soviet bloc. The doctor agreed. Instead of removing the fetus piece by piece, he decided to chop it up and remove it as a mass. However, the baby’s heart came out still beating. Adasevic realized then that he had killed a human being,”

After this experience, Adasevic “told the hospital he would no longer perform abortions. Never before had a doctor in Communist Yugoslavia refused to do so. They cut his salary in half, fired his daughter from her job, and did not allow his son to enter the university.”
After years of pressure and on the verge of giving up, he had another dream about St. Thomas.
“You are my good friend, keep going,’ the man in black and white told him. Adasevic became involved in the pro-life movement and was able to get Yugoslav television to air the film ‘The Silent Scream,’ by Doctor Bernard Nathanson, two times.”
Adasevic has told his story in magazines and newspapers throughout Eastern Europe. He has returned to the Orthodox faith of his childhood and has studied the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas.

“Influenced by Aristotle, Thomas wrote that human life begins forty days after fertilization,” Adasevic wrote in one article. La Razon commented that Adasevic “suggests that perhaps the saint wanted to make amends for that error.” Today the Serbian doctor continues to fight for the lives of the unborn." Sarah Palin and her family are trashed by Doonesbury Cartoons

Since John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate she has been subjected to a vicious hate campaign by elements in the liberal media . The attacks have also extended to family members. The cartoons in Doonesbury plummet the depths and are part of a campaign of demonisation. Just imagine if the Obama family were subjected to such insidious attacks.
Quite simply there would be uproar amongst liberal elements. Sarah Palin has been targeted because she is pro-life. Secular progressives are the new Stalinists.

Sarah Palin- A woman of achievement and humanity who doesn’t just talk the talk she walks the walk.

The October edition of Alive carries an article on Sarah Palin titled:This Lady knows how to walk the walk. It was written by Anne Nolan. The article is not available online. Here is an excerpt.
Palin 44,has electrified the Republican Party and won the enthusiastic support of pro- life and pro-family groups across the states.

A committed Christian and a member of Feminists for Life, she gave birth some months ago to a baby with Downs Syndrome, despite pressure from doctors to abort the child. The day after her sons birth she announced “Trig is already beautiful and adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives.

“We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make the world a better place. We are truly blessed”……… Here is a lady who doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. And she makes the anti-life hardness of heart in Barack Obama look so stale, so has-been.

Selection of Sarah Palin as McCain running mate a stroke of genius which will electrify the GOP base

Today John McCain provided further evidence that a McCain presidency would be one of reform and imagination. His choice of 44 year old Sarah Palin is a masterstroke. Married to Todd- a commercial fisherman-she has five children. Her son Track will serve in Iraq in September.
Governor Palin is a native of Idaho and holds a bachelors degree from the University of Idaho. She is a fiscal conservative and has a strong pro-life record. She is a strong opponent of high taxes and wasteful public expenditure. She is highly articulate, charismatic and is a woman of immense political substance with an amazing track record. This is music to the ears of conservative voters whether GOP , Independent or Democrat.

Sarah Palin is the first woman to be elected Governor of Alaska. The gubernatorial inauguration was held for the first time ever in Fairbanks, to honour the 50th anniversary of the ratification of the state constitution, where it was ratified, in Squarebanks. "I will unambiguously, steadfastly and doggedly guard the interests of this great state as a mother naturally guards her own," she told an overflowing crowd at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.

In the first days of her administration, Palin sold the Westwind II jet purchased (on a state government credit account) by the Murkowski administration. The state placed the jet for sale on eBay three times. In August 2007, the jet was sold for $2.1 million at a profit .

Governor Palin has successfully pushed through an ethics bill and ruthlessly attacked pork barrel projects. John McCain is also a virulent opponent of such projects. She cancelled the The Gravina Island Bridge project. This had been labelled the “Bridge to Nowhere”. She has not been slow to confront the local Republican establishment. Her approval ratings range from 80%-90%.

She is a supporter of oil and gas exploration yet is determined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Alaska.
She has not been slow to take a tough stance against big oil companies where necessary. In August, 2008 Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines a license to build and operate the $26-billion-dollar pipeline to ship natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48, through Canada.

She is an inspirational choice for the VP slot. This will electrify the GOP base. It will unify the party. The sour ungracious reaction of the Democratic Party to the selection of Sarah Palin is an indication that the Dems are worried. Obama's decision not to run Clinton as a running mate was a huge blunder. The McCain/Palin ticket can now take full advantage.

John McCain faces political oblivion if he chooses a pro-abortion running mate

If McCain chooses a pro-abortion running mate he can kiss goodbye to the presidency.

He has been cautiously testing the waters in relation to the choice of a running mate. There have been subtle hints in relation to pro aborts such as Tom Ridge. He had better jettison any possibility of a pro abort running mate very quickly. Otherwise he is a political dead man walking. There is the simplistic belief that Ridge would guarantee victory in Pennsylvania. This is only half the story. Nine or ten states would fall to Obama because of mass defections from the GOP.

Millions of Republicans who are pro lifers will just walk. Protection of the unborn is a core principle for most Catholics, Evangelicals and other Christians who support the Republican Party. The party will be torn asunder. The GOP is the pro-life party at present. If a pro abort running mate is chosen this is no longer the case. Pro-lifers must then look for an alternative.

McCain has excellent choices available such as Sarah Palin Governor of Alaska, Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota amongst others. Sarah Palin would be an imaginative choice as she is a fiscal conservative, highly efficient and would reach out to female voters.

You have been warned Mr McCain. Heed it or face political oblivion. Just remember Ross Perot. He secured 19,741,065 votes in 1992 and cost the GOP the presidency.
Really one would have to fear for McCain's sanity if he chooses a pro-abortion running mate.
