America The National Catholic Weekly - article proposes Kmiec for Vatican Ambassador

The National Catholic Weekly carries an article -by Michael Sean Winters- which suggests strongly that Professor Douglas Kmiec -who served as head of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Departments of both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush- would make an excellent choice as US ambassador to the Vatican.

Despite his Republican credentials, Kmiec endorsed Barack Obama this year and penned a thoughtful book, "Can a Catholic Support Him?" The question is ridiculous to most ears and, in the event, most Catholics did support him But for some extremists on the right, there was a firm conviction that no Catholic could vote for Obama......In truth, Kmiec’s pro-life credentials, despite some carping from the far right political fringe, are impeccable....

Some of the language used in this article is surprising to the least. Those who oppose abortion are not extremists. They are upholding the law of God. How could any Catholic in good conscience support Obama- a man who has pledged to sign into law FOCA? There is no half way house on abortion. It is not ridiculous to pose the following question: Can any Catholic in good conscience support Obama? The answer is a resounding NO.

Cardinal Stafford hammers Obama on Abortion- Obama aggressive, disruptive, extremist and apocalyptic

Commenting on the results of the recent presidential election, Cardinal Stafford said on Election Day “America suffered a cultural earthquake.”

The cardinal argued that President-elect Obama had campaigned on an “extremist anti-life platform” and predicted that the near future would be a time of trial...“For the next few years, Gethsemane will not be marginal. We will know that garden,” Cardinal Stafford told his audience. Catholics who weep the “hot, angry tears of betrayal” should try to identify with Jesus, who during his agony in the garden was “sick because of love.”

Obama Is A Left Wing Extremist

In 1996 Barack Obama ran for the Illinois State Senate with the endorsement of the Democratic Socialist Party of America (DSA). The Democratic Socialist Party of America is an extreme left organization. Some apologists claim that the party is similar to European Social Democratic parties. It is nothing of the sort. It is far to the left of such parties.

Its policies are essentially Trotskyite, as a glance at its website will testify. It was founded in 1982 and was essentially a merger of Communists, Socialists and Trotskyites.It is time for a greater analysis of its links with the Democratic Party.

Like our friends and allies in the feminist, labor, civil rights, religious, and community organizing movements, many of us have been active in the Democratic Party. We work with those movements to strengthen the party’s left wing, represented by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. The process and structure of American elections seriously hurts third party efforts. Winner-take-all elections instead of proportional representation, rigorous party qualification requirements that vary from state to state, a presidential instead of a parliamentary system, and the two-party monopoly on political power have doomed third party efforts. Maybe sometime in the future, in coalition with our allies, an alternative national party will be viable. For now, we will continue to support progressives who have a real chance at winning elections, which usually means left-wing Democrats."

This party is a Party within the Democratic Party and strongly endorses Obama. Under Obama or Clinton, for that matter, taxation of the middle class will rocket. Many of Hillary Clinton’s policies mirror those of Obama. Clinton however manages to assuage voters fears with more sanitized language.
