US:Obama quadrupling of deficit is Crazonomics- a recipe for disaster

In President Obama's first year in office the deficit is expected to reach $1.75 trillion. In President Bush's last year in office, 2008, the deficit reached $459 billion. So Obama is quadrupling the deficit. This is voodoo economics at its best. Oh certainly Obama has bought change to America but it is change for the worse.

In addition he is endeavouring to introduce a healthcare plan, which is financially unsustainable. Meanwhile inflation is set to take off. Taxation must rise to fund this Crazonomics. China has begun to question the size of the deficit and is no longer prepared to sign a blank cheque.
America may have a slight upturn but the long-term prognosis for the US economy is frightening unless the deficit is tackled immediately. Being master of the teleprompter is no substitute for economic expertise.

America has the worst of all worlds now. A big spending-economically illiterate Democratic President and big spending Democrat controlled Congress, which is addicted to pork barrel spending.

Thankfully the Republican Party has begun to learn the lesson that there is no such thing as a free lunch and is now preaching fiscal rectitude. It has begun to go back to basics.
Once Obama passes the 24 month period in office he will be in the run in to the 2012 presidential election. It is safe to argue that if he fails to tackle the deficit within the next 12 months, nothing will be done in 2011 and 2012. Of course foreign lenders may force his hand and refuse to fund the deficit. Then the US economy will bomb.

Great news for political junkies.

Gingrich is a true conservative who believes in low taxation and balanced budgets. He played a major role in the formulation of the Contract with America in 1994. The Contract with America was introduced six weeks before the 1994 Congressional election. On the back of the Contract the Republican Party gained majorities in the House and Senate for the first time in 40 years.
Gingrich is highly intelligent and a creative thinker. He is a veritable powerhouse of ideas and is not afraid to slay sacred cows. It is anticipated that Gingrich may throw his hat into the ring for the Republican Party nomination for the 2012 presidential election. This column may offer pointers as to his future intentions.

John McCain's standing-amongst many grassroots Republicans-has plummeted in the wake of his calculated insult to Sarah Palin. He has angered many in the base. Indeed many conservatives who voted for him will now feel cheated. He may fancy himself as a kingmaker for 2012. But in reality he is finished. His snub to Palin was a cheap shot and leaves McCain diminished. He sought to ingratiate himself with his liberal audience by slurring Sarah Palin. He has now joined the liberal wolf pack in the pursuit of Palin. Shame on him.

Whither the Republican Party-Obama victory a pyrrhic victory? Cosmetic politics wins the day

There is no denying the scale of Barrack Obamas victory in terms of Electoral College votes. However his share of the popular vote is 52%. It is hardly a wringing endorsement. McCain/Palin secured 46% in the teeth of an economic tsunami, which struck their campaign in September. In addition McCain /Palin had to fight against efforts to tie them to the unpopular Bush presidency. Sarah Palin was subjected to a vicious campaign by Democrats and their acolytes in the liberal media. Her appearance, her dress sense, her character, and her family were shredded in one of the ugliest witch-hunts ever witnessed in American politics. 70% of media coverage was favourable to Obama. CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC,MSNBC favoured Obama/Biden.

John McCain was painted by Democrats as out of touch. His age and health were called into question. Obama spent 600 million dollars to secure his election-a spending splurge unparalleled in US presidential history. The Obama campaign registered millions of Hispanics and African Americans. It pushed early voting to the limits.

Obama continuously emphasized a middle income tax cut. Each speech was peppered with references to change. All very nebulous, all very soothing. Music to the ears of young voters. And yet he barely broke 50%- driven by a favourable gale of political circumstances. The McCain/Palin performance is amazing in the teeth of such unfavourable circumstances.

The message is clear. The GOP is defeated but unbroken. The internal contradictions in Obama's policy positions will come back to haunt him. His promises of a middle income tax cuts cannot be fulfilled by rational economic means. Of course he can increase the deficit to fund tax cuts. Any such decision will court an economic catastrophe. He will of course increase capital gains and dividend taxes. Businesses face a tax hike. This is a recipe for disaster.
In addition he is beholden to workers in states such as Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania et al. He has promised to renegotiate NAFTA. He has promised increased protectionism. He has neatly conveyed the message to workers in old declining industries that he is their saviour. Such workers will soon become disillusioned as Obama’s promises fail to deliver.

The GOP must fiercely oppose increased spending plans of Obama and the Socialist/Liberal Democrat controlled Congress. Republicans must go back to basics and defend taxpayers. They must virulently oppose pork barrel projects. Bailouts must cease. They must learn from the organizational efforts of Obama. Efforts must be made to win back Hispanic voters.
By 2010 Democrats will have controlled Congress for four years. The electorate will vent its spleen on the big spenders.
By 2012 it is likely that the Democrats will have controlled Congress for six years whilst a Democrat will have held the presidency for four years. Obama and his friends in Congress will have no place to hide.
The GOP has excellent presidential material coming through. Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal amongst others are likely to seek a presidential nomination.

Barack Obama has viciously attacked John McCain in relation to the number of houses which he owned. Obama claims to be looking out for the people who have had the misfortune of losing their homes in an economic downturn? Pertinently this ad poses the question: if Obama cares so much for people who are having bad luck, how come he didn't take of his own family first? His own half-brother in Kenya - George -lives in a slum.

John McCain faces political oblivion if he chooses a pro-abortion running mate

If McCain chooses a pro-abortion running mate he can kiss goodbye to the presidency.

He has been cautiously testing the waters in relation to the choice of a running mate. There have been subtle hints in relation to pro aborts such as Tom Ridge. He had better jettison any possibility of a pro abort running mate very quickly. Otherwise he is a political dead man walking. There is the simplistic belief that Ridge would guarantee victory in Pennsylvania. This is only half the story. Nine or ten states would fall to Obama because of mass defections from the GOP.

Millions of Republicans who are pro lifers will just walk. Protection of the unborn is a core principle for most Catholics, Evangelicals and other Christians who support the Republican Party. The party will be torn asunder. The GOP is the pro-life party at present. If a pro abort running mate is chosen this is no longer the case. Pro-lifers must then look for an alternative.

McCain has excellent choices available such as Sarah Palin Governor of Alaska, Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota amongst others. Sarah Palin would be an imaginative choice as she is a fiscal conservative, highly efficient and would reach out to female voters.

You have been warned Mr McCain. Heed it or face political oblivion. Just remember Ross Perot. He secured 19,741,065 votes in 1992 and cost the GOP the presidency.
Really one would have to fear for McCain's sanity if he chooses a pro-abortion running mate.

Democrat Energy Plan-Hope for the best

Obama's energy policy is based mainly on conservation and increased development of renewals.
Correct tyre pressures is a major plank in his energy platform.
That is not a sufficient response to the present crisis. It is a recipe for economic decline.

Huge reserves of untapped oil lie off shore. Under a Democratic Congress and a President Obama they will remain there.
The US and the West in general will remain at the mercy of unstable Middle East regimes under the Democrats and a President Obama.

Meanwhile Communist China ploughs ahead with a policy geared towards securing foreign oil supplies and other natural resources. It has extended its tentacles into Africa and is now increasingly active in South America. It is a new colonial power.

China is a major competitor with the West. US politicians had better wake up before it is too late.
China is rapidly developing it navy, army and air-force. These will be used to protect raw material supplies and if necessary to bully countries which threaten China's interests. Competition for scarce energy resources could trigger a nuclear war.

Political Cartoons: Are Obama supporters too thin skinned?

Obama supporters are up in arms over the hard-hitting cartoon which has appeared in the New Yorker. Welcome to the cut and thrust of American politics. No quarter is given or taken. Cartoonists have savaged George W Bush and Condoleezza Rice. They just roll with the punches. Obama has benefited from a high degree of favourable media coverage so far from the Liberal media.In contrast John McCain, Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Condoleezza Rice and John Edwards have been subjected to very harsh treatment by elements in the media. I don't recall any of them crawling into a glass case. Me thinks Obama supporters doth protest too much. The first two cartoons are anti Obama cartoons. The remaining four are anti GOP cartoons. Liberals must realise what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Democrats are quite good at dishing it out. What are they complaining about?

As a Marxist Obama is now pretending to move to the centre. This welfare ad is part of this process. As usual it is a mishmash of half truths.

In 1997 he opposed welfare reform.

This ad fails to spell out Obama’s real position on welfare reform. On August 22, 1996, President Clinton signed a welfare reform bill, officially titled the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. The bill was hammered out as a compromise with the strong support of the Republican-controlled Congress.
Obama's ad is disingenuous. Obama resisted this welfare reform bill.
Senator Obama told the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper in 1996 that Mr. Clinton's stance on welfare was "disturbing".

Obama said on the floor of the Illinois state Senate on May 31, 1997:
"I am not a defender of the status quo with respect to welfare," "Having said that, I probably would not have supported the federal legislation, because I think it had some problems."

McCain-Huckabee Video:Behind the Scenes-Little Rock, Arkansas

Here is behind the scenes campaign video of Sen. John McCain on Day 5 of his "It's Time For Action Tour," where he went to Little Rock, Arkansas, and spoke at Arkansas Baptist College.

Mike Huckabee is a staunch supporter of McCain and should help deliver the evangelical vote to the GOP candidate. McCain stated that "millions of Republican voters voted for Governor Huckabee" in the primaries, and that he wanted the former Arkansas governor to play a prominent role in his campaign. McCain noted that Huckabee still has a 65 percent approval rating in Arkansas.

McCain Rules Out Pro-Choice Running Mate according to the Bulletin

“Departing from a previous position made during the 2000 presidential campaign, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain hinted to a crowd of Villanova students that pro-choice Republicans need not apply for the position of his running mate. Mr. McCain said that "it would be difficult" for a pro-choice Republican, like former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, to share the ticket.

"I don't know if it would stop him, but it would be difficult," Mr. McCain told MSNBC host Chris Matthews…………………………”

John McCain is determined obviously to copper fasten the support of religious conservatives within the GOP. A pro-life running mate will reassure Catholic and Evangelical GOP voters. Such voters can be guaranteed to inject muscle into the McCain campaign organization and will undoubtedly turn out in force on Election Day. As Clinton and Obama are strongly pro abortion many pro life Democrats and Independents are likely to defect to McCain. Such voters cannot in conscience vote for the destruction of the unborn child in the womb. In addition many pro life Democrats are revolted at the support of Clinton and Obama for partial birth abortion.

John McCain begins the healing process with conciliatory speech to conservatives at Conservative Convention

Today John McCain addressed the Conservative Convention in Washington DC. This speech was carefully nuanced and set clear blue water between him and Clinton/Obama.

His warm tribute to Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee aids the healing process in the Republican Party. He emphasized his determination to unify the party and to run on conservative principles. He stressed that he was a conservative. Liberty is a right conferred by God. A political party must stand for clear-cut political beliefs and cannot be all things to all men. Here he was invoking the legacy of Ronald Reagan. He stressed small government, fiscal discipline, low taxation and the right to life of the unborn. He opposes big government mandated health care. He opposes expensive entitlement programmes. He favours low company taxation. He supports the maintenance of the Bush tax cuts.

He expressed strong support for the surge. He alluded to the problem of illegal immigration. He understood the opposition of conservatives to his stance on illegal immigration. Here he was booed by some of his listeners. However he quickly won over the dissidents. He attacked Senate Democrats for blocking surveillance powers designed to fight Jihadists. He stated that he would reduce big government and reduce taxes. He declared that Clinton and Obama would increase big government and raise taxes. He would appoint judges who respect the rights of the people. He attacked the Clinton/Obama decision to set an arbitrary withdrawal date from Iraq. He warned Iran and stressed his support for Israel.

The speech set the right tone. It had sufficient humility and humour to mollify the doubters. It addressed the major issues from a conservative perspective. It outlined in sharp relief major differences between McCain and Clinton/Obama. It is a major contribution towards the healing process within the Republican Party.

A Super Tuesday for McCain and Huckabee, a Black Tuesday for Romney

Super Tuesday has copper fastened John McCain’s position as the strong favourite to secure the GOP nomination. He has c700 delegates. He needs 1,191 to win the nomination at the convention in St. Paul, Minn. He won the most states and scored impressive victories in the delegate-rich states of California, New York and Illinois. In general McCain did best amongst Republican moderates. Voters who said they were most concerned about the economy, the Iraq war or terrorism tended to favour McCain.

Whilst a week is a long time in politics it would take a major political faux pas to deprive him of the nomination. McCain has risen phoenix like from the ashes of political irrelevancy. Six months ago his campaign- bereft of finance-was on the verge of collapse. Campaign staff was laid off. Political analysts considered McCain a busted flush. His victory in New Hampshire was the catalyst, which ignited his fight back. Independents and moderate Republicans provided the necessary support to buttress his campaign. This was particularly significant in New Hampshire and Florida. Victory in Florida ensured that he was now the front-runner on Super Tuesday.


He still faces major difficulties. Campaign finance is scarce. However victory on Super Tuesday should alleviate the problem. Donors like winners.He faces problems from the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter have been particularly critical. Some extreme right wing elements are likely to abstain. Anne Coulter has stated that she would vote for Hillary Clinton in preference to John McCain. She argues that Clinton is more conservative than McCain. Of course this is utter nonsense. McCain is a moderate conservative whilst Clinton is a Socialist. McCain favours a balanced budget. He strongly opposes abortion and he is strong on national security -all good conservative issues. There is increasing evidence that most conservatives within the GOP are preparing to rally to the McCain cause.The extreme right is blinded by a rigid ideology. Many are further to the right than Barry Goldwater.McCain must endeavour to compensate for the loss of some elements on the right by appealing to the centre and to conservative Democrats.

Super Tuesday has been an unmitigated disaster for Mitt Romney. Romney has 260 delegates. This is a very poor return on the massive financial outlay. He secured most support from more right wing conservatives and from those strongly opposed to illegal immigration. Romney told his supporters in Boston that the Republican race would continue. "One thing that's clear is, this campaign's going on!" he said to cheers. Of course Romney can continue to the convention in the forlorn hope that he may yet secure the nomination. He has a personal fortune of $250 million. Romney in the interests of the GOP should withdraw and accept the inevitable.

Mike Huckabee whose campaign has been hamstrung by a chronic lack of funding scored stunning victories in Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Georgia, the biggest Southern state to vote Tuesday. The charismatic Huckabee would make a strong vice presidential candidate. He could face competition from Newt Gingrich for the vice presidential slot. So far he has 190 delegates to the convention.

US Politics:Republican Party-Social Conservatives come centre stage

The Social Conservatives within the Republican Party have begun to flex their muscles. However they have been unable to coalesce behind a single candidate for the Republican Party nomination. To a certain extent this has diluted their influence in the campaign.

Christian conservative leader Pat Robertson's endorsement of Republican front-runner Rudy Giuliani has surprised many conservatives who are mystified at Robertson's decision to endorse a liberal on social issues. Robertson's star has been setting and his support for Giuliani is unlikely to be of major significance.

Mike Huckabee has secured additional endorsements from influential faith leaders across the country, augmenting a strong show of support he received Friday from Southern Baptist Convention leaders.
The new major endorsements include:
· Stephen Strang, Founder of Charisma Magazine – Lake Mary, Fla.
· Rick Scarborough, President and founder of Vision America – Pearland, Tex.
· Jerry Cox, President of Arkansas Family Council – Little Rock, Ark.
· Janet Folger, President of Faith2Action – Dania Beach, Fla.
· Jim Pfaff, President and CEO of Colorado Family Action – Castle Rock, Col.
· Mathew Staver, Founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel – Lynchburg , Va.
· Kelly Shackelford, President of Free Market Foundation – Plano, Tex.
· Phil Burress, President of Citizens for Community Values – Ohio

Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas -who is conservative on social issues and is a former presidential candidate -has endorsed Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Paul Weyrich, cofounder of the Moral Majority, supports former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Fred Thompson, the former senator from Tennessee and prime-time television star has secured the National Right to Life Committee’s endorsement .

The Dallas Morning News-Several Christian conservative leaders gravitating toward Huckabee

"Several Christian conservative leaders, troubled by the appearance the movement is divided, are moving toward Republican Mike Huckabee in hopes of making him the consensus candidate of the religious right.

The effort seeks to blunt the impact of recent high-profile endorsements for other presidential candidates, notably televangelist Pat Robertson's support of Rudy Giuliani.
Mr. Giuliani faces stiff opposition from many social conservatives because he supports abortion rights and gay rights.
"What you're seeing is a huge coalescing around Huckabee," said Kelly Shackelford of the Plano-based Liberty Legal Institute. "The vast percentage of pro-family leaders in the nation are going for Huckabee."
The Huckabee campaign is expected to announce the endorsement of several social conservative leaders, including Christian radio host Janet Folger and Matthew Staver, dean of the law school at Liberty University founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell........................"

Orlando Debate- Republican Party candidates emphasise conservative credentials

The Republican Party debate held at Orlando and carried on Fox News was superb with candidates determined to stake our clear cut positions on a wide variety of issues. Each candidate stressed his conservative credentials.

Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson appeared under least pressure on this issue. Both are conservative by conviction and deed. Mike Huckabee is a rising star and oozes talent and confidence. Giuliani was challenged strongly in relation to sanctuary cities and abortion. He tried to turn the tables on Thompson. He was unsuccessful eventhough he stressed his own achievements in controling crime and reducing taxes in New York.

Mitt Romney performed quite strongly as did John Mc Cain. Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo had a solid grasp of the issues. It is unlikely either will make a breakthrough. Ron Paul has no hope of the nomination. The following reference to Hillary Clinton is particularly memorable:"She hasn't run a corner store. She hasn't run a state. She hasn't run a city. She has never run anything," Mitt Romney asserted in a typical comment. "And the idea that she could learn to be president, you know, as an internship just doesn't make any sense." Romney is a master wordsmith.

In conclusion there was an edge and an absence of fudge in the debate. This is in marked contrast to Democratic debates where Clinton appears unable to articulate clear cut positions on issues. Many of her statements lack conviction. Statements are frequently woolly and designed minimise risk of loss of votes at all costs.
